You might not know it, but you rely heavily on your shoulders for everyday movements, such as pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Shoulder degeneration can occur as you age, become less active, or because of repetitive activities, such as tennis, swimming, or weightlifting. Unfortunately, the shoulder’s poor blood supply also limits its ability to regenerate. If you are experiencing pain, decreased range of motion, or popping in your shoulder, please contact our patient care team to discuss if Regenexx Cayman treatments are the right choice for you.

FAQ

Regenexx Cayman PRP and stem cell treatments can help with a range of shoulder issues, but before booking any appointments, you will be required to have a phone review to confirm you are a candidate for treatment. During your phone review, the physician will conduct a detailed review of your imaging, medical history, and treatment goals. At this time, you will receive a candidacy rating of good, fair, or poor, so you can make a well-informed decision about treatment based on your expected outcome.

This depends on numerous factors, including the condition of the area treated, a patient’s general health, etc. There is usually some pain relief from our treatments early on, but healing and regeneration of tissues takes time, and it may take up to a year to achieve maximum results. Most patients notice a continuing decrease in pain and increase in function over many months post-procedure.

While pain relief is variable, patients typically see results after 6-12 weeks following PRP treatment and after 3-6 months following stem cell treatment. Our Regenexx-C (cultured stem cell procedure) outcome data demonstrates that results peak around 1-2 years post-procedure.

Some patients find that one treatment produces the results they were looking for; others may see some improvement but want additional treatments to further improve their outcome.

Regenexx is the trusted alternative to orthopedic surgery, so whether you’ve been recommended for an rotator cuff repair, capsulectomy, shoulder replacement, or some other shoulder surgical procedure, it’s worth exploring all your options. The first step is to have a consultation or phone review to determine if you are a candidate for Regenexx treatment. Not everyone is a candidate, and our physicians will let you know if surgery is your better option. During your Regenexx Cayman phone review or initial consultation, you will receive a candidacy rating of good, fair, or poor, so you can make a well-informed decision before committing to treatment.

Many of our shoulder patients have been told they need a shoulder arthroscopy or surgical fix and it’s our goal to reduce your pain and improve function, helping you to avoid, or delay, surgery for as long as possible.

After my Regenexx shoulder procedure, when can I be active again?

This depends on your specific treatment, and you will be given post-procedure instructions to follow. However, most patients resume normal mobility four days after treatment (with lifting restrictions), light resistance training and some lifting by week three, and a return to sport and full functional activity after seven weeks. Patients also report a continued improvement in function and decrease in pain many months after their procedure.

Will I need physical therapy after my Regenexx shoulder stem cell procedure?

Yes, we usually recommend physical therapy after treatment. You will receive specific post-procedure instructions and rehab protocols for your shoulder. These will detail restricted and permitted activities, therapeutic exercises, rehab progression, and recommendations for physical therapy following stem cell injections for the first three months after treatment.

Do you have outcome data relating to my specific shoulder condition e.g. rotator cuff tear?

We can provide joint-specific outcome data (i.e. all shoulder patients), but not condition-specific data. Regenexx maintains an active patient registry of all patients and publicly publishes patient outcomes. Regenexx Cayman regularly compiles Regenexx-C data from the registry. Please contact us if you would like to know more.
